Appropriations Debate To Be Held After Adjournment

The Government will give priority to debate on the Appropriation (2013/14 Confirmation and Validation) Bill after the coming three week adjournment, Leader of the House Gerry Brownlee said when Parliament resumed today.

In his Business Statement, Mr Brownlee said the Government will also deal with a number of second readings.

Shadow Leader of the House Chris Hipkins asked whether the Government would consider giving more time for members’ bills as there were now more of the them on the Order Papers than there was Government business.

Mr Brownlee quoted former Leader of the House Michael Cullen saying “Stand by, More is on the way”.
