by Desk Editor on Friday, June 17, 2016 — 11:45 AM

The Riccarton Racecourse Development Enabling Bill and the Riccarton Racecourse Bill have passed their final readings unopposed.

This Riccarton Racecourse Development Enabling Bill is companion legislation to a local Bill to be known as the Riccarton Racecourse Bill. Together, the 2 Bills will provide the necessary authorisations required to enable some 40 hectares of the Riccarton Racecourse in Christchurch to be developed for housing.

This Riccarton Racecourse Bill repeals the existing enactment relating to the Riccarton Racecourse, and re-enacts provisions with ongoing relevance, together with provisions necessary to enable 40 hectares of the racecourse to be developed for housing. This bill is companion legislation to the Riccarton Racecourse Development Enabling Bill
