When Parliament resumed at 2pm the acting Leader of the House Simon Power said when the House next sat on Tuesday April 12 the Government intended to introduce and progress legislation relating to the Canterbury Earthquake.
In response to questions, Mr Power said it was still being considered whether to send the legislation to a select committee even for a few hours.
Finance Minister Bill English made a ministerial statement on the Government’s decision to offer financial assistance to the AMI insurance company.
The Auditor General’s report on the Ministry of Social Development’s recovery of debt was presented.
Select Committee reports were presented on the:
Petition 2008/114 of Hon Ruth Dyson by the Health Committee;
2009/10 financial review of the Bay of Plenty District Health Board, of the Hutt District Health Board, and of the Whanganui District Health Board by the Health Committee; and
2009/10 financial review of the Alcohol Advisory Council of New Zealand, of the Crown Health Financing Agency, and of the Health Research Council of New Zealand by the Health Committee
The New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Amendment Bill was introduced.
