Government Survives First Confidence Vote

The Government has survived the first confidence vote of this Parliament.

MPs adopted the Speech from the Throne by 64 votes to 57 with National, ACT, United Future and the Maori Party supporting.

The vote followed the completed debate in reply to the speech that opened Parliament from the Governor-General.

MPs then began the first reading debate on the Medicines Amendment Bill
