Partial Sale Of Energy SOEs To Be Debated

by Desk Editor on Thursday, June 14, 2012 — 10:46 AM

The Mixed Ownership Model Bill will be debated in Parliament this afternoon.

After Question Time, MPs will take part in the second reading debate of the bill, which allows for the partial sale of Genesis Power, Meridian Energy, Mighty River Power and Solid Energy.

The bill was reported back on Monday after a truncated select committee process with minor amendments intended to tighten up rules restricting the Crown from holding less than 51 percent of the voting rights in each of the companies and restrict non-Crown shareholders from holding more than 10 percent of the voting rights in each of the companies.

If time is available MPs will then begin the second reading debate of the Dairy Industry Restructuring Amendment Bill.
