House Sits Under Extended Hours For Treaty Bills

Parliament resumed at 9am to deal with a number of treaty settlement bills.

MPs agreed to carry out the second reading debate of the Maraeroa A and B Blocks Claims Settlement Bill, Maraeroa A and B Blocks Incorporation Bill, Ngai Tāmanuhiri Claims Settlement Bill and the Rongowhakaata Claims Settlement Bill.

All the bills were given their second reading on a voice vote

The Business Committee has agreed that the committee stage was not necessary for these bills and they will be given a third reading next week.

The committee stage of the Ngai Tāmanuhiri Claims Settlement Bill was completed and the bill was reported with amendment on a voice vote. The House rose for lunch at 12.23pm and will resume at 2pm.
