Budget Passes And Confidence Vote Won

The Government passed the Budget into law tonight winning a confidence vote at the same time.

The Appropriation (2012/13 Estimates) Bill passed its third reading by 63to 57 with National, Maori Party, ACT and United Future supporting.

It completes a process that began with introduction of the Budget on May 24 and ended with the vote which is considered a test of Parliament’s confidence in the Government.

MPs returned to the committee stage of the Exclusive Economic Zone and Continental Shelf (Environmental Effects) Bill.
