The House was adjourned this week, but the Law and Order Committee received a petition in the name of Tracey Marceau, on behalf of Christie’s Law Group.
The petition calls for tougher bail laws and closer monitoring of judges who make bail decisions.
The bill is being supported in Parliament by National MP Jackie Blue.
The Committee also received submissions on the Bail Amendment Bill – and heard from Christie’s Law Group Spokeswoman Ruth Money and Salvation Army Policy Advisor Ronji Tanielu.
