Parliament made progress on the committee stages of a number of bills this evening and Education Minister Hekia Parata corrected an answer given in Question Time.

The Social Security (Benefit Categories and Work Focus) Amendment Bill completed its committee stage and was reported with amendment by 61 to 60 with National, ACT and United Future in favour.

The Student Loan Scheme Amendment Bill (No 2) was also reported with amendment.

The House rose shortly before 10pm debating Part One of the Local Electoral Amendment Bill (No 2).

Just before the House rose Education Minister Hekia Parata corrected an answer she gave in Question Time today saying she had been wrong to say she had not been consulted by the State Service Commissioner before the Education Secretary resigned from her job.
