MPs will hold a set piece debate on Budget related legislation this afternoon.

Following Question Time a motion will be put without debate to appoint Gareth Hughes as the replacement for Metiria Turei on the Parliamentary Service Commission. This will be followed by the three hour debate on the second reading of the Appropriation (2013/14 Supplementary Estimates) Bill.

Other bills scheduled to be debated are the third readings of the Victims’ Orders Against Violent Offenders Bill and the Companies and Limited Partnerships Amendment Bill divided into two bills.

These will be followed by the second reading of the Commerce (Cartels and Other Matters) Amendment Bill.

Wednesday is a Members’ Day.

The Government has indicated the House will go into Urgency on Thursday afternoon to pass through all stages a bill allowing trees blown down in a cyclone on the West Coast to be recovered for commercial purposes.
