By-Election Deferral Motion To Be Debated

by Editor on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 — 10:33 AM

MPs will debate in Parliament this afternoon whether to defer a by-election in Epsom following the resignation of its MP John Banks.

The by-election will be deferred if 75 percent of MPs agree to this, due to the General Election in September. Both Labour and National have indicated they will support the motion.

The motion will be debated following Question Time and the General Debate.

After the debate on the by-election MPs are scheduled to debate the committee stages of the Companies and Limited Partnerships Amendment Bill and the Victims’ Orders Against Violent Offenders Bill.
