House Expected To Go Into Urgency

by Desk Editor on Thursday, June 26, 2014 — 10:58 AM

After Question Time today, MPs are scheduled to debate the committee stage of the Appropriation (2013/14 Supplementary Estimates) Bill.

This is a set piece eight hour debate, however the Government indicated earlier in the week it would put the House into Urgency to pass through all stages the West Coast Windblown Timber (Conservation Lands) Bill.

This bill amends the Conservation Act to allow the removal of native trees felled on some conservation estate land in a recent cyclone.

The Government has the confirmed support of the Maori Party and United Future. The Greens are opposed.
