Debate In Reply To Resume

by Desk Editor on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 — 10:40 AM

After Question time today MPs will return to the debate in reply to the Prime Minister’s statement.

There are two hours and 36 minutes remaining in the 11 hours allotted for the set piece debate, but the Government has indicated it will be adjourned to make progress on bills.

The Leader of the House Gerry Brownlee told the House last Thursday he believed the debate in reply would be completed and barring unforeseen events a General Debate and Members’ Day would take place next week. The debate takes precedence over other House business.

The debate will resume every day after Question Time until it is concluded.

Currently on top of the Order Paper is the second reading of the Social Security Amendment Bill (No 3) and the third reading debates of the Energy (Fuels, Levies, and References) Amendment Bill and the Parole Amendment Bill.
