Debate On Islamic State

by Desk Editor on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 — 10:42 AM

Prime Minister John Key has indicated he will make a ministerial statement when Parliament resumes today on the decision to send troops to Iraq to assist in the fight against the Islamic State.

The Ministerial Statement will allow party leaders to make speeches in reply, but the Government has indicated there will be no motion on the decision for MPs to vote on.

Other business on top of the Order Paper is the interrupted third reading debates on the Gambling Amendment Bill (No 2) and the Parole Amendment Bill.

This will be followed by the second readings of the Objectionable Publications and Indecency Legislation Bill and the Statutes Amendment Bill (No 4).
