Intelligence Committee To Be Debated

Appointments to the Intelligence and Security Committee will be debated in Parliament today.

After Question Time, MPs are set to return to the Debate in Reply to the Prime Minister’s Statement with one hour and 21 minutes left in the 11 hour set piece debate.

Following this on top of the Order Paper are two Government motions. One making appointments to the Intelligence and Security Committee and another laying out what work it will do.

The Prime Minister’s nominees are Christopher Finlayson and Amy Adams, The Leader of the Opposition’s nominee is David Shearer.

The procedures motion includes the committee examining the budgets for the security agencies and reviewing their performance.

These will be followed by the second readings of the Judicature Modernisation Bill and the Objectionable Publications and Indecency Legislation Bill, and the third reading of the Parole Amendment Bill
