Budget And Urgency

by Desk Editor on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 — 10:38 AM

Following Question Time today, MPs are scheduled to hold the two hour debate on the Government’s Budget Policy Statement.

This follows the presentation of the Finance and Expenditure Committee’s report on the Budget Policy Statement 2015 last week.

MPs will then turn to the interrupted first reading of the Taxation (Annual Rates for 2015-16, Research and Development, and Remedial Matters) Bill, and the second readings of the Statutes Amendment Bill (No 4) and Human Rights Amendment Bill.

There has been speculation the House would be put into urgency today to deal with the issue of MPs salaries. The Government has advised the Business Committee it may move urgency on Thursday.

The Business Committee also agreed in the committee stage of the Remuneration Authority Amendment Bill, the provisions of the bill be debated as one question.
