A taxation bill freeing up more KiwiSaver money for first home buyers deposits has passed its third reading with general support.

Revenue Minister Todd McClay said the Taxation (KiwiSaver HomeStart and Remedial Matters) Billwould allow first home buyers to access more of their KiwiSaver funds to put together a deposit. The bill also addressed issues around payments to veterans

David Clark Clark said Labour would support the bill as it was “benign”, even though it did little to address the core issue around housing – increasing supply.

The bill completed its third reading on a voice vote.

MPs returned to the interrupted second reading debate of the Human Rights Amendment Bill
