Environmental Reporting Bill And Other Second Readings

by Desk Editor on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 — 10:43 AM

The Government is planning to complete a number of second readings of bills as the focus turns to Thursday’s Budget.

After Question Time, the Government is intending to complete the interrupted second reading debate on the Environmental Reporting Bill, which has four speeches remaining.

The bill sets up a mandatory environmental reporting regime.

Opposition parties support the thrust of the bill, but are opposed to the framework. In particular Labour and the Greens do not like that ministers set the areas which will be monitored.

This will be followed by the second readings of the Reserves and Other Lands Disposal Bill, Standards and Accreditation Bill and Organised Crime and Anti-corruption Legislation Bill.
