Maiden Speech And Members’ Day

Recently elected NZ First List MP Ria Bond is scheduled to make her maiden statement this afternoon at 5.45pm.

After Question Time and the General Debate, MPs are set to debate local, private and members’ bills.

First up are the committee stages of the Arts Centre of Christchurch Trust Bill and the Christchurch City Council (Rates Validation) Bill.

This will be followed by the third reading of the Social Security (Clothing Allowances for Orphans and Unsupported Children) Amendment Bill. .

If MPs complete these debates then a number of first readings of members’ bill are next on the Order Paper, with the first being the Underground Coal Mining Safety Bill, which requires the immediate adoption of the Queensland framework for mine safety.
