Estimates debate

by Desk Editor on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 — 10:40 AM

Parliament resumes today at 2pm after a two week adjournment and following Question Time MPs will begin the Estimates Debate.

The Business committee has agreed the 11 hour set piece debate on the committee stage of the Appropriation (2015/16 Estimates) Bill will be divided into ten separate sector debates, which match wider more general spending areas than the individual estimates.

The bill is the key piece of legislation approving the Government’s spending for the financial year. At the end of the Estimates debate, the Appropriation Bill is set down for its third reading.

If the Government decides to adjourn the debate MPs will turn to the third reading of the Environmental Reporting Bill.
