Subordinate Legislation Confirmation Bill Progresses

by Desk Editor on Thursday, July 2, 2015 — 3:47 PM

The first reading of the Subordinate Legislation Confirmation Bill was completed on a voice vote.

The bill was sent to the Regulations Review Committee for consideration on voice vote. The bill confirms and/or validates subordinate legislation that will lapse at a specified time unless it is confirmed or confirmed and validated, by an Act of Parliament.

Earlier on a voice vote MPs approved the appointment of Alan Ritchie as the Judicial Conduct Commissioner and Kathryn Snook as the Deputy Judicial Conduct Commissioner, for five year terms.

MPs began the first reading of the Evidence Amendment Bill. This Bill makes a number of minor and technical amendments recommended by the Law Commission, following its 2013 review of the Evidence Act.
