The Public Collections and Solicitations (Disclosure of Payment) Bill completed its first reading on a voice vote and was sent to Social Services Committee on a voice vote.

The Bill in the name of National’s Chris Bishop seeks to bring transparency to donation collectors, by ensuring the public is told who is paid to solicit donations or signatures when signing, paying, or donating to any cause. It was generally supported though a number of parties said this was conditional as they had a number of concerns about how it would in practice.

The House rose at 10pm interrupting the first reading of the Financial Assistance for Live Organ Donors Bill.
