The House has gone into Urgency to pass through all stages the New Zealand Flag Referendums Amendment Bill to allow the Red Peak flag into the upcoming referendum.

Leader of the House Gerry Brownlee said many people were of the view the ‘Red Peak’ flag should be included in the first referendum on the New Zealand Flag

It would be necessary to pass the bill through all stages today in order for it to be included with the four already allowed in law.

The Urgency motion was agreed by 109 to 12 with NZ First opposed.
