The committee stage of the Employment Standards Legislation Bill has been completed. The bill was divided into the following bills:
- Parental Leave and Employment Protection Amendment Bill
- Employment Relations Amendment Bill (No 3)
- Holidays Amendment Bill
- Minimum Wage Amendment Bill
- Wages Protection Amendment Bill
The committee stage of the bill included a vote on an SOP in the name of Labour’s Iain Lees-Galloway, which he said aimed to eliminate zero hours contracts.
The SOP was agreed to by a margin on 120 votes to 1, with only ACT’s David Seymour opposed.
