The Rangitāne o Manawatu Claims Settlement Bill has passed first reading and been referred to the Māori Affairs Committee.
This bill gives effect to the deed of settlement signed on 14 November 2015 in which the Crown and Rangitāne o Manawatu agreed to the final settlement of the historical Treaty of Waitangi claims of Rangitāne o Manawatu. Legislation is necessary to give effect to certain aspects of the settlement.
