GST Healthy Food Bill Defeated 08.09.10

Maori Party MP Rahui Katene’s bill proposing healthy food be exempted froom GST was voted down with National and Act  voting against it.

Supporters of the bill said it would make healthy food cheaper for those who could not afford it. Those opposed said it was unworkable and would make the GST scheme difficult to administer.
