Parliament Resumes On Members’ Day

Parliament resumed later than usual today due to the state luncheon for the Australian Prime Minister.

After the ringing of the bells, Prime Minister John Key moved a motion noting with sadness the death overnight of a soldier serving in Afghanistan.

All MPs supported the motion.

Following Question Time, the General Debate will be held and the first legislation scheduled to be debated is a private bill in the name of David Bennett – the Hamilton City Council (Parana Park) Land Vesting Bill.

MPs will then turn to the committee stage of the Education (Freedom of Association) Amendment Bill in the name of Heather Roy.
