When Parliament resumed at 2pm the Leader of the House Gerry Brownlee said next week the Government would seek to make progress on bills including the Courts and Criminal Matters Bill and the Legal Services Bill.

When Parliament resumed at 2pm the Leader of the House Gerry Brownlee said next week the Government would seek to make progress on bills including the Courts and Criminal Matters Bill and the Legal Services Bill.

In answer to questions, Mr Brownlee said the Government had no plans at this stage for Urgency next week.

The Government’s response to the Justice and Electoral Committee report on the petition of Jane Pritchard and 46 others was tabled

Select committee reports were presented on the:

Briefing on New Zealand’s rules of engagement in relation to our obligations as a signatory to OPCAT as reported by the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee.

Also presented were the 2009/10 financial reviews of:

The Abortion Supervisory Committee as reported by the Justice and Electoral Committee;

The Securities Commission by the Commerce Committee;

AgResearch Limited, of Career Services, of the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology, of the Institute of Environmental Science and Research Limited, of Landcare Research Limited, of Learning Media Limited, of the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research Limited, and of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority as reported by the Education and Science Committee;

The South Canterbury District Health Board, of the Southern District Health Board, of the Waikato District Health Board, and of the Wairarapa District Health Board as reported by the Health Committee;

The Health Sponsorship Council as reported by the Health Committee; And

The Legal Services Agency as reported by the Justice and Electoral Committee.

Following Question Time, MPs will return to the interrupted first reading debate of the Crown Pastoral Land (Rent for Pastoral Leases) Amendment Bill;
