When Parliament resumed at 2pm Prime Ministers John Key moved a motion marking the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

When Parliament resumed at 2pm Prime Ministers John Key moved a motion marking the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Civil Defence Minister John Carter then formally advised the House he was extending the national state of emergency following the earthquake in Christchurch.

The Government’s final Response to the report of the Māori Affairs Committee on Inquiry into the tobacco industry in Aotearoa and the consequences of tobacco use for Māori was tabled.

Select committee reports were presented on the:

Activities of the Regulations Review Committee in 2010 as reported by the Regulations Review Committee; and

Royal Society of New Zealand Amendment Bill as reported by the Education and Science Committee.

The Regulatory Standards Bill was introduced.
