Budget Debate Eats Into Members’ Bills

by Desk Editor on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 — 10:41 AM

Today is Members’ Day in Parliament, but other business means it is unlikely much progress will be made on MPs bills.

Following Question Time, MPs will hold a two hour debate on the Budget Policy Statement following the Finance and Expenditure Committee’s report back on the Government document.

This will be followed by the committee stages of the Tasman District Council (Validation and Recovery of Certain Rates) Bill, Sullivan Birth Certificate Bill and the Electronic Transactions (Contract Formation) Amendment Bill.

If National MPs desire to extend debate on these bills it is unlikely much more business will be completed.
