Social Housing Bill Passes Under Urgency

A bill making changes to provision of social housing has passed through all stages under Urgency.

MPs began debating the committee stage of the Social Housing Reform (Flexible Purchasing and Remedial Matters) Bill at 9am this morning and completed its third reading by 63 to 56 with National, Maori Party, ACT and United Future in favour at 4pm divided into a number of bills.

MPs began the first reading debate on the Telecommunications (Development Levy) Amendment Bill, which the Government intends to pass through all stages.

The following bills stills have to be debated under the Urgency motion passed following yesterday’s Budget.

• the introduction and passing of the KiwiSaver Budget Measures Bill

• the introduction and passing of the Border Processing (Arrivals and Departures) Levy Bill
