Filibuster Broken Down

Labour’s filibuster on the Royal Society of New Zealand Amendment Bill committee stage debate has been broken down.

To the surprise of Labour MPs ACT MP Heather Roy moved that the House report progress on the bill. This was agreed to with National, ACT and United Future supporting.

This effectively ended the debate on the bill to the next member’s day which meant the House could turn to the Education (Freedom of Association) Amendment Bill, which Labour strongly opposes.
